As our Marketing & Communications Intern, you can expect an exciting semester in Silicon Valley, where you will be given the chance to develop as you get hands-on experience with driving the communication agenda for the Consulate General and Innovation Centre Denmark in the world's leading tech-hub, Silicon Valley. You're guaranteed to develop both professionally and personally as you embark on a learning journey where you're given responsibility from day one. 


As a vital part of the Communications Team, you'll get the chance to deliver strong communications targeted Danish companies, knowledge institutions, and organizations to help them prosper in the intersection between science, tech, sustainability, innovation, and diplomacy. Your communication skills are certain to reach next level as you'll be continuously challenged and mentored throughout the semester.

Communication & Marketing 

With our many goals and stakeholders come a need to communicate our activities and disseminate our knowledge in Denmark and California. Working with the Political & Strategic Communications Advisor in Silicon Valley, you will play a vital part in our overall communication and marketing efforts of Denmark and Danish values at the Consulate General. Furthermore, the Innovation Centre implements an annual Innovation Project, taking an analytical deep dive into a current topic of relevance to Denmark – Future of Leadership, Future of Climate Tech, Future of Health Tech, and Future of Work are some of our previous publications. We research and provide insights into cases that can provide a Silicon Valley perspective. You will contribute to the Innovation Project, including communicating and promoting the results, which are important parts of the project. Furthermore, you may also be a critical resource in preparing and executing official delegation visits. 

Specifically, you can expect to assist with the following activities across the organization:

  • Planning and coordinating communication efforts
  • Managing our web page and social media presence (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and X (formerly Twitter)
  • Writing and producing content (articles, videos and graphics) on social media and other promotional platforms, including our newsletter
  • Providing analytics and reviews on our channels helping to improve our online presence
  • Participating in strategy development and ensuring processes are followed to maintain strategic direction
  • Supporting in developing, researching and promoting our annual Innovation Project
  • Supporting business development related projects, preparing delegation visits, and assisting with public diplomacy events, etc.
  • Knowledge of Canva, InDesign, Adobe Premiere Pro, and/or Final Cut will be an advantage

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment where you'll be able to influence, define and execute day-to-day tasks as well as larger projects. You work independently, but know when to ask for help. Also, you're not afraid of tight deadlines, and you know that prioritisation skills are pivotal to professional succes. We are not looking for any specific study lines, rather, we prefer you are: 

  • Savvy and creative within marketing and communication, loving the fact that you'll be able to drive your own tasks and gain experience across communication touchpoints
  • Interested in entrepreneurship, innovation, R&D, digital tech, health, life science, sustainability, business, technology and future trends
  • Open-minded team-player who perform great as part of a team, but also know how to nail your tasks individually
  • Analytically sharp and able to interpret and communicate complex information clearly (incl. analyzing and presenting data)
  • Energetic and positive as a person, bringing curiosity and a can-do attitude
  • A whiz across SoMe platforms, knowing how to plan, strategise and execute content or campaigns across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and newsletter
  • Experienced in creating graphic content, video assets, building storylines and writing articles as well as captivating SoMe copy
