We are seeking a motivated and analytically minded Policy Adviser & Coordinator, who will play a central role in strengthening the Consulate’s organizational coherence, strategic projects, and partnerships across California’s political, business, academic, and innovation landscape. The position sits within the Economic Diplomacy team with direct reference to the mission management group and will collaborate closely with colleagues across the representation, as well as relevant counterparts at the Embassy in Washington DC.
Qualifications and Profile

- Is comfortable engaging externally with political, academic, business, and civil-society stakeholders.
- Works collaboratively, with a positive and open-minded approach.
- Has strong analytical skills and a keen interest in political, economic, and technological developments.
- Is a strong communicator with the ability to synthesize complex information concisely.
- Has a relevant academic background (e.g., political science, international relations, business administration, project management, economics, etc.).
- Experience from similar positions/roles is an advantage.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
Your key responsibility will be to strengthen organizational coherence, enhance strategic projects, and support the Consulate’s partnership and network development in California.
Specifically, your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating projects, organizational and policy planning activities with the Head of Mission (HOM) and Deputy Tech Ambassador / Deputy Head of Mission (DHOM).
- Mapping, cultivating, and coordinating external partnerships and networks across political, business, academic, and civil-society stakeholders.
- Supporting horizontal collaboration and sparring across teams, and participating in cross-portfolio meetings where relevant.
- Planning, coordinating, and supporting high-level delegation visits to California, including ministers, companies, and VIPs from Denmark and other Danish missions.
- Contributing to monitoring and reporting of political and economic developments in California, including identification of emerging trends and strategic knowledge gaps.
- Following Denmark’s domestic politics and government priorities relevant to the portfolio.
Employment Conditions
- You will be offered full-time employment for 2 years with the possibility of extension as mission employed staff. Housing and relocation benefits are not provided as part of the employment, and your spouse/partner is not eligible for a work permit.
- You will be employed with a work week of – on average – 37 hours, but you are employed without an upper working hours’ limit.
- You will be entitled to 5 weeks (25 working days) of paid vacation days per year.
- As part of your salary, you will be covered by a workplace pension scheme.
- You will be offered reasonable health coverage, which includes your spouse/partner as well as children under the age of 26, if applicable.
