Would you like to join the EIFO Investment team and work out the vibrant innovation hot spot in Silicon Valley? Do you have prior experience with sourcing, evaluating, and executing investment opportunities within venture and or PE investments? In a joint effort between The Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO) and General Consulate of Denmark, we are looking for an experienced and outgoing Investment Manager (senior profile) with transactional background specialized in the domain of venture capital. EIFO is the national promotional bank and export credit agency of Denmark combined in one financial institution.

Below is a profile and description of specific tasks for the employment of a representative employee at the Consulate General in Silicon Valley:

  • The employment is expected to run from 15. March 2025.
  • The employee is formally employed by the Consulate General in Silicon Valley on equal terms with other representation employees, i.e. local conditions in relation to wages and employment.
  • In practice and for the purpose of daily work the employee reports to Lars Nordal Jensen (Managing Director & Head of Fund Investments at EIFO) and is expected to deploy his/her time working with the transactional team at EIFO.
  • The employee is part of the Consulate General in Silicon Valley's investment promotion team and is expected to work out of this office most of the employed time.
  • In the event there are periods of less activity in the person's primary area of employment - i.e. the work for EIFO, the management of the Consulate General in Silicon Valley can dispose of the manpower in question to solve other, relevant tasks at the Consulate General.
  • The employee will be security cleared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs prior to employment.  

Qualifications/profile:

  • You possess a relevant master's degree, such as MSc in Finance and Investments, Financial Management, Applied Economics and Finance or similar.
  • You have 7+ years of relevant track record with PE or venture investments and preferably experience with direct investments, including co-investments.
  • You have solid market knowledge, strong analytical skills, and a good financial toolbox.
  • You have experience as the lead of transaction teams and correspondingly have a steady hand in handling external parties.
  • You have a strong network in the US, EU and in the Nordics both on the LP and GP side.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage effectively with diverse groups. A genuine networker.  

Key responsibilities and tasks:

Your task will be to drive new venture fund investments and direct investments. You will cover all phases of the investment process in close collaboration with your colleagues in Copenhagen. Specifically, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Sourcing, evaluating, and developing new investment opportunities in line with the EIFO’s investment program.
  • Executing investments - including formatting, leading and participating in due diligence.
  • Preparing investment recommendations for the investment committee.
  • Negotiating key economic investment terms and Limited Partner Agreements.
  • Monitor financial performance and executing active ownership with a portfolio of primarily US fund managers.
  • Ensure day-to-day coordination with the Investment team in Copenhagen, the Consulate General in Silicon Valley and the with the Organization Denmark Bridge.

Employment conditions:

  • You will be offered full time employment.
  • Housing and relocation benefits are not provided as part of the employment, and your spouse/partner is not eligible for a work permit.
  • This is a full-time salary position - the Consulate General’s standard work week is 37 hours; but you are employed without an upper working hours’ limit. You will have a large degree of flexibility in organizing your own daily working hours.
  • You will be entitled to 5 weeks (25 working days) of paid vacation days per year.
  • As part of your salary, you will be covered by a workplace pension scheme.
  • You will be offered coverage of sickness expenses. So will your spouse/partner and children under the age of 26 if you provide for him/her/them.
  • The gross yearly salary for the position – for an employee subject to US income taxation – is 89.600-122,000$. For a tax-exempt employee (non-US citizen) the yearly net salary is 80,000$ - 116,000$. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, an additional individual allowance may be added.  

The Consulate General of Denmark in Silicon Valley:

The Consulate General is part of the Danish Foreign Service and Denmark's official representation in Silicon Valley and across the West Coast. We advise and assist in a number of areas – consular, commercial, investment and cultural – and we communicate to the US public on important topics of relevance to Denmark. The Consulate General consists of approx. 35 employees.
