As an Intern within Innovation, you can expect an exciting semester in Silicon Valley, where you will be given the chance to develop as you get hands-on experience with innovation, entrepreneurship and scaling businesses through Innovation Centre Denmark placed in the world's leading tech-hub, Silicon Valley. You're guaranteed to develop both professionally and personally as you embark on a learning journey where you're given responsibility from day one. 


As a vital part of Innovation Centre Denmark in Silicon Valley, you'll get the chance to contribute to helping Danish companies accelerate, work with knowledge institutions, and get close to organizations to help them prosper in the intersection between science, tech, sustainability, innovation, and diplomacy. Your business and communication skills are certain to reach next level as you'll be continuously challenged and mentored throughout the semester.

Innovation 

The Innovation Centre Denmark in Silicon Valley provides innovation advisory services to Danish companies and organizations, and is responsible for promoting Danish higher education and science in California and the Western US. We work with the following four strategic focus areas: 1. Entrepreneurship, 2. Digital Technologies, 3. Sustainability and 4. Health, and our mission is to promote growth and competitiveness in Denmark through knowledge and networks in the Silicon Valley ecosystem. Furthermore, the Innovation Centre works closely together with the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science, and other stakeholders in the Danish innovation ecosystem, to connect Danish universities and research based companies to American partners. Some of our activities include arranging Boot Camps and summits for start-ups; executive academies and master classes; facilitate corporate innovation in Danish companies; and support the entire Danish business promotion system with international partnerships and foresight. We also tailor delegation visits, meetings, exchange programs and other partnership activities through our strategic partnerships with Stanford University, UC Berkeley and other world-renowned universities in the area. 

The team works with versatile projects, and you can expect to be assisting with the following activities:

  • Building and strengthening networks and partnerships between Danish and Californian research communities and promoting innovation in Danish companies and organizations by arranging delegation visits, meetings, workshops and other activities.
  • Supporting scholarship and exchange programs for Danish students in Silicon Valley organizing events and activities within entrepreneurship.
  • Collecting and analyzing data and information on emerging trends and best practice and prepare reports for knowledge sharing.
  • Building and strengthening knowledge, networks and partnerships within our strategic focus areas. 
  • Promoting the Danish government’s and public stakeholders’ key interests in California and the Western US in research, higher education and science based innovation.
  • Aiding Danish technology start-ups scale through Silicon Valley. 

What do we expect from you?  

It is essential that you are curious and embrace working on diverse projects in a dynamic organization. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment where you'll be able to influence, define and execute day-to-day tasks as well as larger projects. You work independently, but know when to ask for help. Also, you're not afraid of tight deadlines, and you know that prioritisation skills are pivotal to professional succes. We are not looking for any specific study lines, rather, we prefer you are: 

  • Interested in entrepreneurship, innovation, R&D, digital tech, health, life science, sustainability, business, technology and future trends
  • Open-minded team-player who perform great as part of a team, but also know how to nail your tasks individually
  • Analytically sharp and able to interpret and communicate complex information clearly (incl. analyzing and presenting data)
  • Energetic and positive as a person, bringing curiosity and a can-do attitude
  • Experienced in creating graphic content and working in Canva

    Requirements to apply

    To apply for an internship with Denmark in Silicon Valley, it is a prerequisite that you are currently enrolled in an education at a Danish higher education institute. Furthermore, you must be able to express yourself orally and written in Danish and English.
