As part of this effort, we are looking for a results-oriented and proactive colleague who can help translate strategic partnerships into concrete business opportunities, innovation collaboration, and long-term value for Denmark.

About your role

With professional reference to the Minister-Counsellor for Food & Agriculture in Washington, D.C., and locally to the Consul General in Palo Alto, you will be responsible for developing our efforts within agriculture, food, and biosolutions in California.

Based on Danish positions of strength and the strategic partnership agreements between Denmark and California, you will work to create tangible results through business development, innovation cooperation, and strategic partnerships.

  • Monitoring, analysing and sharing information regarding technological trends in California, in close cooperation with colleagues at Innovation Centre Denmark in Silicon Valley and Invest in Denmark, with a view to identifying new solutions within agri-tech, food-tech, and biosolutions relevant to Denmark’s green transition.
  • Contributing to attracting North American investments to Denmark in close collaboration with colleagues from Invest in Denmark.
  • Developing and implementing a coherent platform and action plan to support and sustain activities within the area of responsibility.
  • Ensuring strategic coherence between The Trade Council’s commercial efforts within agriculture, food, and biosolutions in California.

Required qualifications

  • Relevant higher education degree.
  • Experience with project management, consultancy work, and/or business development, preferably from an international context and ideally within the food and/or agriculture sectors.
  • Strong understanding of, or deep interest in, the opportunities and challenges at the intersection of traditional agriculture, new technologies, and sustainability.
  • Strong networking and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust across a broad range of partners.
  • A proactive, independent, and results-oriented approach to work.
  • Ability to thrive in a complex and dynamic international environment.
  • Excellent command of Danish and English, both oral and written.

Desired qualifications

  • Experience from public-private collaboration, innovation environments, or international advisory work will be considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Californian stakeholders, market conditions, or innovation ecosystems within agriculture, food, or biosolutions will be considered an asset.

Employment conditions

  • You will be offered full-time employment for 2 years as a mission-employed staff member with the possibility of extension.
  • Your standard working hours will be 37 hours per week. Overtime work is to be expected during peaks and will be compensated for.
  • You will be entitled to 5 weeks, equivalent to 25 working days, of paid vacation per year.
  • As part of your salary, you will be covered by a workplace pension scheme.
