Why did you pursue an internship at the Denmark in Silicon Valley mission?

Growing up as a techie, it’s been highly compelling to me to have the opportunity of experiencing and learning about global innovation and emerging technology right at the core. It is a unique place to get insights in entrepreneurship and meet industry leaders. While it is exciting to see how fast technology is advancing, it is crucial to ensure humanity is safeguarded. Denmark has been proactively and successfully advocating responsible tech development, and it is exciting to be able to contribute to this mission.

What's been your most significant professional learnings gained from being here?

The most interesting part about being here was learning about the relationship between governments and big tech companies, and how diplomacy is integrated in the tech world. I was able to observe the impact Denmark has in tech diplomacy matters, and what is happening behind the scenes.

How has your internship experience in Silicon Valley influenced your future career goals?

Already in my first month here, being in Silicon Valley has ignited a desire to pursue entrepreneurship, and it’s been the perfect place to network and learn about examples in the ecosystem here. The entrepreneurial mindset is quite different here, and it inspired me to not be afraid of making mistakes in the future.

How would you describe your personal growth during your internship in Silicon Valley?

It has been exponential. I did not know what to expect, so I came with almost no expectations but soon I realised that this would be one of the most challenging experiences of my life so far, in a positive way. I feel like I’ve grown so much both personally and professionally by adapting to new situations, people, and a different lifestyle. I learned to trust myself more that I would be able to meet upcoming challenges with confidence.

How has it been living in and experiencing California?

I think the best word to describe the experience is diversity. Other than meeting people with different backgrounds, I was able to explore various areas of California, neighbouring states, and countries. The best part was that I could go on a hike, to the beach, a park, and cafes any day. I also took the chance to visit places nearby such as most national parks (such as Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Zion), Los Angeles, Hawaii, New York, and even Mexico.
