Bring the UC Berkeley Method of Entrepreneurship into your classroom

Are you interested in developing your teaching and bringing new tools from entrepreneurship into your classroom? Join us in Copenhagen and Aarhus to experience the Berkeley Method of Entrepreneurship.

Innovation Centre Denmark in Boston Silicon Valley have teamed up with the Danish
Foundation for Entrepreneurship to host expert instructors from the UC Berkeley
Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology to ‘train the trainers’ at Danish
universities, professional schools and colleges.

Over the course of two intensive days of lectures, breakout sessions and group work
building on tools from the UC Berkeley entrepreneurship curriculum, you will learn
about:

  • Teaching students to identify opportunities and build entrepreneurial solutions
  • Supporting your students in their journey to test and launch their solutions

Getting to know one another.

The Case for Entrepreneurship Education (different methods and approaches, but if you want tangible outcomes….

Why it is important for students to learn entrepreneurship & innovation skills. Also, a discussion of the different methods of teaching.

Berkeley Method of Entrepreneurship

Introduction to the methodology and pedagogy used to teach entrepreneurship

at SCET Berkeley.

Journey-based Learning & Elements of BMoE

 

A more detailed look at the pedagogy including the weekly “teaching ritual”.

Lunch

Course Design: Challenge Lab as a Use Case

The importance of course design using SCET Berkeley’s core offering as a use case.

Game-based Education

The use of games and other group activities as a key teaching/learning component.

Mentoring

How to effectively engage and utilize mentors and how to prepare students to be

better mentees.

Note: There will be a homework assignment at the end of Day 1 that will require no more than one hour of work.

Best practices and teaching “hacks”

Tools for ideation, team formation best practices, common pitfalls, and more.

Getting feedback and giving evaluations

Creating feedback loops, understanding if/how students are learning and how to evaluate.

Open discussion & Questions & Sharing

Sharing best practices as a group, taking questions and your feedback.

Note: Inputs from participants during the course of certain topics and interests may lead to adjustments to the content and/or the sequence of topics.
