As our Energy & Environment Intern, you can expect an exciting semester in Silicon Valley, where you will be given the chance to develop as you get hands-on experience by participating in driving the green transition agenda with the "Green Team" Consulate General in the world's leading tech-hub, Silicon Valley. You're guaranteed to develop both professionally and personally as you embark on a learning journey where you're given responsibility from day one. 


As a vital part of the "Green Team", you'll get closer to the green transition agenda for Danish and American companies, knowledge institutions, and organizations to help them prosper in the intersection between energy, environment, green tech, sustainability, and innovation. You will gain new professional skills, build valuable insights into a rapidly growing sector, and your communication and presentation abilities are certain to reach a new level.

Energy & Environment
 

As part of the Consulate General, the Energy and Environment team supports the green transition in California by sharing knowledge and practical solutions on energy efficiency in industry and buildings, offshore wind power, green hydrogen, and related topics. As California has similarly ambitious climate and CO2 reduction targets as Denmark, our team works to inspire effective energy policy and increase the adoption of green technologies and solutions in California. When you join our “Green Team,” you can expect to work with Danish and Californian companies, industry associations, government and regulators, and academic institutions. Your profile can be either commercial or technical, but you should have an interest in energy, climate, and sustainability, and be curious about establishing an international career in this field.

The experience and skills that you bring to the team will determine your work assignments, which are likely to include:

  • Assistance to the government-to-government cooperation between Californian and Danish energy authorities
  • Assistance to the Trade Council of Denmark with promoting Danish best practices, doing market research and help supporting Danish green tech companies in California
  • Help in identifying and analyzing emerging trends, new technologies and research, and key policies within sustainability and decarbonization
  • Prepare communications material, SoMe posts, fact sheets, articles, and reports for knowledge internal and external use about innovation, markets, and policies
  • Planning and coordinating meetings, workshops, and webinars

What do we expect from you?  

It is essential that you are curious and embrace working on diverse projects in a dynamic organization. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment where you'll be able to influence, define and execute day-to-day tasks as well as larger projects. You work independently, but know when to ask for help. Also, you're not afraid of tight deadlines, and you know that prioritisation skills are pivotal to professional succes. We are not looking for any specific study lines, rather, we prefer you are: 

  • Interested in energy, environment, innovation, sustainability, business, technology and future trends
  • Open-minded team-player who perform great as part of a team, but also know how to nail your tasks individually
  • Analytically sharp and able to interpret and communicate complex information clearly (incl. analyzing and presenting data)
  • Energetic and positive as a person, bringing curiosity and a can-do attitude
  • Open to learning and building new skills
  • Experienced in creating graphic content e.g. in Canva or PowerPoint

    Requirements to apply

    To apply for an internship with Denmark in Silicon Valley, it is a prerequisite that you are currently enrolled in an education at a Danish higher education institute. Furthermore, you must be able to express yourself orally and written in Danish and English.
