Research and Public Diplomacy Advisor

The Consulate General and Innovation Centre Denmark, is located in the dynamic, global tech hub Silicon Valley, California, and we are looking for a new colleague.

Our new research and public diplomacy advisor will organise programs and activities in the field of science and education, conduct policy research assignments and perform public diplomacy activities in support of the joint mission of the Consulate General and Innovation Centre Denmark; “ Building Bridges for a Sustainable Future”.

As an Advisor at the Consulate General and Innovation Centre, you will have your own area of responsibility which cuts across the research/education team and the policy/communication team, and you will therefore contribute to both. You will provide your experience, organisational skills and knowledge of the science and educational area to the benefit of Danish stakeholders; companies, research foundations, universities and public stakeholders. And you will leverage your writing skills and personal competences in promoting key Danish policy and economic priorities in California.

You will contribute to creating cross-cutting collaboration between the research, commercial and policy-oriented teams, creating synergies where possible.

Our expectations 

You should have comprehensive knowledge of the educational and science field combined with project management skills and possibly experience with working for a policy-driven organisation - and a desire to learn and grow.

It is essential that you thrive in a fast-paced environment, where you will get a lot of responsibility in defining and executing your daily tasks.

Our ideal ICDK colleague; 

  • 2-3 years professional experience.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of the education and science field (could be from a Danish Institution of higher education or a policy organisation) both in the US and in Denmark
  • Has experience working with innovation, entrepreneurship and/or delivering advisory services in the Denmark.
  • Can demonstrate project management skills, incl. attention to detail.
  • Is flexible and able to interact with many different stakeholders both within research, the private sector and the policy field.
  • An excellent verbal and written communicator in Danish and English
  • Results-oriented, flexible and with strong collaborative skills.
  • An open-minded person with a strong drive to perform both on own initiative and as part of a team

We offer a local contract with salary and other conditions regulated according to the Staff Rules of the Consulate General in Silicon Valley. We expect to fill the position as soon as possible, preferably 1 September 2020. The position is on a contract basis and initially offered for a 2-year period with possible extension.
